While we may not exactly have a white Christmas here in The Valley, our communities sure do help to turn our cities into a magical winter wonderland to explore. With Winter activities around North Central Phoenix and the surrounding areas popping up, we can finally fill up our calendar with fun, festive events to enjoy during the holidays! Here’s a look at just some of the magical winter entertainment happening all around us this season.
CitySkate Ice Skating at CityScape
From November 26th to December 16th, you can head downtown to CityScape, lace up your skates and hit the ice! And with gorgeous holiday lights all around and a beautiful Christmas tree front and center, you’re sure to feel the holiday spirit. Not to mention the delicious cookies and cocoa to keep you warm while you perfect your spins. Whether you’re an experienced skater or just looking to learn, there’s plenty of space for you to get your skate on and feel the spirit of the season.
Zoo Lights
We like to think that matter your age, holiday lights are always magical. And Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo is the ideal place to see some incredible displays like nothing you’ve ever seen. Plus, in addition to their traditional ones, they’re celebrating their 30th anniversary with some brand new features, like 13 illuminated paintings of stunning endangered animals. From November 24th to January 15th, not only can you view some LED creatures, but you may be able to catch a glimpse of the more nocturnal animals that you don’t often catch! So, grab some hot chocolate, fill up on your favorite snacks and make your way through the famous illuminated exhibits.
The Nutcracker at Phoenix Symphony Hall
Nothing says it’s the holiday season quite like The Nutcracker ballet coming to town. And from December 10th through December 23rd, you can pop over to the Phoenix Symphony to see this famous classic. From the sugar plum fairy to the tin soldiers, this beloved, nostalgic show is sure to get you into the festive mood. But don’t wait to snag your seats, tickets for this season’s run are going fast!
Winter Activities: Phoenix Races
If you are in the mood for something that gets you a bit more active this season, sign yourself for the Phoenix Turkey Trot race happening November 25th or the Holiday 5K on December 18th. Whether you choose the kids run or the 10K, you’ll be proud you took part! Plus, the Turkey Trot will hold a costume contest for Best dressed turkey, Most creative, Best dressed family and more. So, we suggest you suit up and start running! See you at the finish line.
