Trick or Treat! Ghosts, goblins and Captain America’s will soon be taking over the streets of Phoenix in the frightening quest of the best candy. Since Halloween falls on a weekday, it’s hard to get kids wound down for bed time.

Eliminate the princess sized meltdown with these family-friendly Halloween events around town:

Spooktacular Balloon Festival

Why wait for Halloween when the 8th annual Spooktacular Balloon Festival is returning to Salt River Fields on Friday and Saturday, October 26 – 27, 2018 from 5-9:30 pm. Don’t miss the dozens of glowing hot air balloon rides, nightly firework shows, live music and more. Kids of all ages will love this spectacularly spooky festival featuring a pumpkin patch and a free Kids Zone.

Not to mention, more than 20 majestic hot air balloons illuminating the sky as they participate in the world’s longest continuous glow at over 3 hours, as well as offering tethered balloon rides to kids and families looking to “soar” into the night’s sky. Enchanted Pumpkin Garden

Head to Carefree for the third annual Enchanted Pumpkin Garden. Enjoy the four-acre pumpkin garden, live pumpkin carvings, a pumpkin pie eating competition, corn maze, petting zoo and gourmet food trucks. Kids can participate in a new costume contest for families, and parents can get in on the fun too with an adult costume contest. Care-free Pumpkin Garden.

Howl-O-Ween

Head to the Phoenix Zoo for Howl-O-Ween, with activities that are scary or merry. The spookier things to do include checking out the Twisted Fairy Tales and Zombie Rave dance party. Those who like a tamer evening will like the family-friendly camel rides, and character meet-and-greets on the red carpet. Get in on a scary good time on Oct. 26 & 27thPhoenix Zoo.

Creepy Candy Crawl

Get those costumes ready! Dress to impress for the Creepy Candy Crawl held at Desert Ridge Marketplace on Oct. 27th from 3 – 5 p.m. There will be a costume contest in four different categories, music, candy and plenty of family friendly fun. Strange Garden

The Desert Botanical Garden is getting in on the spooky good time. Look out for the Mad Botanists as they dazzle you with tales of fascinating and peculiar plants, and dance ‘til you drop at the spooktacular monster bash.

The Garden will also have complimentary face painting by Fancy Faces, Boo Alley featuring amazing creations by Villafane Studios, and kids 12 and younger can pick the perfect pumpkin to take home! Don’t forget to dress up and show off your perfect costume. Desert Botanical Garden.
