Creative Ways to Celebrate the 4th

Creative Ways to Celebrate the 4th

Summer – and especially summer holidays – are looking very different this year. While we know the family pets will be happy about most fireworks displays being cancelled for the holiday, we also know they are probably the only ones! The good news is, with a little creativity and planning, your 4th of July holiday can be a super fun and memorable one.

The traditional fare of hot dogs, apple pie, and corn on the cob is a given, but here are some ideas to take the celebration to the next level!

Decorate

Twinkly lights will take any yard – or room – to festive immediately, so get out those clear, red and blue holiday lights. You can also scroll through Pinterest for some crafty ideas, like these patriotic wind catcherspaper lanterns and party poppers. And don’t forget about the sparklers for after the sun goes down!

Make Some Sweet Treats

The sky is the limit here! With a quick internet search, we found patriotic dessert recipes that will satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth, like these Coconut Water & Berry Popsiclesholiday Rice Krispie Treats, and homemade ice cream sandwiches decorated with red, white and blue sprinkles.

Add Some Music

Create your own patriotic playlist, or head over to Spotify or Pinterest where you’ll find several! Here are a couple to get you started – July 4th Playlist and Patriotic Playlist

Plan a Few Activities

Get everyone involved with a fun 4th of July Scavenger Hunt, a round or two of holiday trivia, and if you have a pool, set up your own dive-in movie with a blow-up screen or sheet and inexpensive projector.

Take in Some Fireworks

According to ABC15 news, a few fireworks shows are still happening. All are drive-in only, and some feature food trucks and music. Go to here for all the details.

We hope these ideas inspired you to try something different this Independence Day, and maybe even start a new holiday tradition. All of us at The Caniglia Group wish you a happy and safe 4th of July!
