Calling All Foodies! Check Out These New Restaurants in Central Phoenix

Springtime means lots of things in Phoenix: spring training, amazing weather and eating as many meals as possible outside because we all know the heat will arrive soon! Here are some great new restaurants to check out not only for their food but for their great patios!

Little Miss BBQ Sunnyslope

Although Little Miss BBQ opened its first Valley restaurant in 2014, this location is a new and much anticipated addition to Cen Pho. With the original being hailed by none other than Texas Monthly’s barbecue editor Daniel Vaugh as a “Texas style barbecue joint, just a couple states too far west” this new location lives up to the high standards.

Long lines for the mouthwatering brisket made a second location a must and Sunnyslope was a perfect choice. The addition of local beers and cocktails, including a tempting Peached Whiskey Sour that can be consumed while waiting, take this place to the next level.

Across the Pond

Sushi, signature cocktails, and an amazing patio? Yes, please! Located in the space right across from their first valley restaurant, Clever Koi, owners Joshua James and Nick Campisano have delivered a menu highlighted by pristine nigiri and rolls paired with an earthy house-brewed soy sauce. Reviews praise the cocktails just as much as the sushi with special mentions of master mixologist Gavin and legendary sushi chef Alvaro Salinas.

Verdura

The next big thing is taking the vegan community by storm! Verdura is a plant-based eatery with a 70’s and 80’s music theme. Your favorite comfort foods have been reimagined with a healthy spin and the owners promise it’s so good you won’t miss the meat.

The setting is casual and comfortable, and the drink menu is great. Enjoy favorites like London Calling (fish and chips), Yo Mama’s Bucatini and The Ritz (street tacos), all with a vegan flair. Another plus: the patio is dog-friendly.

And finally for dessert:

Scoupwell’s Dough Bar

Skip dinner and head straight for dessert! The Scoopers/owners of Scoupwell’s are on a mission to bring happiness to others, one scoop of dough at a time! This dough bar features scratch-made, unbaked gourmet cookie dough that is totally safe to eat raw. Some favorite dough flavors are Ginger Snap, Peanut Butter Explosion, Oatmeal M&M, and Cake Batter. Vegan and gluten free choices are also available. Don’t forget the sprinkles!
